Pete Sessions Statement on President Obama’s Debt Limit Remarks

Issues:

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican leadership, released the following statement yesterday in response to President Obama’s press conference:

In the 113th Congress, I remain committed to putting our nation back on a path towards fiscal responsibility and changing Washington’s culture of out-of-control spending. In a sharp contrast to this approach, President Obama is once again asking Congress to write a blank check that will allow an unrestricted spending spree. Texas State Rep. J.M. Lozano is Not a New Face in the Texas Legislature but is New to the Republican Party, Learn Why He Switched Parties

Issues:

Texas Representative J.M. Lozano is not a new face in the House of Representatives, but he is a new face as a Republican State Representative. Lozano, who was a conservative, blue dog Democrat, changed parties last year, and in the interview below, you can hear why. I was very impressed with his story. Read more about Texas State Rep. J.M. Lozano is Not a New Face in the Texas Legislature but is New to the Republican Party, Learn Why He Switched Parties

Payday Lending: Why Conservatives are compelled to Oppose Usury

Issues:

In 2012, lobbyists for the payday lending industry strived to become the largest campaign donors in Austin. The reason: many state legislators and local municipalities are evaluating limitations to payday lenders by capping interest rates. In Texas, a number of cities have placed restrictions and the Texas Legislature made some restrictions in the last session. The industry argues such a move will significantly curtail their business.

Congressman Stockman: Impeach Obama over Gun Control Executive Orders

Issues:

My very own Congressman, Steve Stockman, is working hard for Texas and America. Congressman Steve Stockman was first elected to Congress in the Republican Revolution of 1994. He beat long-time US Representative icon Jack Brooks. Stockman has not been in Congress for over a decade, but now he is back after winning handily in the new Texas Congressional District 36 in east Texas. Stockman came in with boots on the ground and ready to fight for conservative values.

One of Stockman’s first votes was to not vote for John Boehner as the Speaker of the US House of Representatives because Stockman believes we

President Obama’s Cabinet Lacks Diversity

Issues:

You know, not that I really care that Barack Obama has filled his cabinet with white men (no women or minorities, and I really don’t care because I try not to engage in identity politics) but some great points are made here. Let me say that I don’t care if the men selected by Barack Obama are purple, I am concerned about whether or not they are competent white men who best represent the American people.

Far too often in American politics are the arguments center stage regarding racial, gender or sexual preference demographics, when the focus should be on qualifications and competence.

Dem. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Disrespects Soldiers at Houston Army National Guard & Abusive to Staff Lawsuit

Issues:

Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is being sued by a former staffer who claims that Lee was abusive to her and showed no regard for her disability.

I could have told you that she doesn’t treat her staff well just from what I have seen with my own eyes. She also does not seem to care too much about soldiers based on how I saw her treat them in Houston last year.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Disrespects Soldiers at Houston Army National Guard event with Race Based Speech and showing up late. She was also abusive to her staff at this event

Justice Eva Guzman: Extraordinary Things Can Happen to Ordinary People

Issues:

During the first day of the 83rd Legislative Session, I had the opportunity to visit with an exemplary Texan and a dear friend, Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman. Justice Guzman was the first Latina on the Texas Supreme Court. Texas has an amazing composition of justices who inspire children and young people across the state to dream big and to work hard. Texas is a place where extraordinary things can happen to very ordinary people through hard work and education.

Target in Silverdale, Washington Disrespects Navy Widow

Issues:

Dear fellow Texans and Patriots. I was made aware of an incident in Silverdale, Washington that I think you should know about. Below is a letter from a Navy widow to Target after the manager refused to allow people to park their cars and attend a public memorial for a soldier that gave his life for his country in Afghanistan. Please read the letter below and feel free to show your support on Target's Facebook page. They have since issued an apology but the damage is done. Target owes its very existence to the men and women who have given their lives for their country.

Target,

I am stationed in Washington State and shop often at the Target Store on Silverdale Way in Silverdale, WA as do most of my Brothers and sisters in arms.

Texas State Rep. Larry Gonzales, A Leader in the State House and a Model of Conservatism

During the first day of the 83rd Legislature of Texas, I interviewed Republican State Rep. Larry Gonzales. Rep. Gonzales just recovered from major surgery, and I was very happy to see him strong and well. Rep. Gonzales is no doubt a leader in the state House, a model of conservatism, and is willing to start the dialogue on the tough issues facing our state. Below is the vIdeo and the trascript of my interview with the second longest serving Hispanic Republican ever in the Texas House. Read more about Texas State Rep.
