Today the U.S. Supreme Court voted to strike down Section 4 of the 1965 Voting Rights Act as unconstitutional. The 5-4 ruling was authored by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court overturning Section 4 of the Rights Act is a major breakthrough for protecting the rights of the states to control their own elections as guaranteed by

Chub, Scrub, Stuff and Stall

Issues:

Orange t-shirts admittedly outnumbered those of us in blue at the Texas State Capitol on Sunday, June 23. However, in the long run, what mattered in the passage of the House version of Senator Heger's Senate Bill 5, sponsored in the House by State Representative Jodi Laubenberg, is that Texas voters had sent a clear majority of pro-life Republicans to the House of Representatives.

If you've always wondered about the meaning of "chubbing," look at the 6/23/13 record of the House video, available at the House website.

Corker-Hoeven Amendment on Border Security Faces Cloture Vote

Issues:

Border Security FencingThe battle for Immigration Reform and meaningful Border Security enhancements wages on in the U.S. Senate today.  This afternoon, the Senate will have a cloture vote on the Corker-Hoeven Amendment designed to guarantee tangible, measurable increases to our border security systems before any immigration reform green-cards can be issued to immigrants who might earn temporary legal residency under the proposed Gang of Eight immigration bill. Lumberton ISD Principal's Prayer Prompts Threats from Freedom from Religion Foundation

Issues:

Lumberton ISD is once again in the news. This time it is over a prayer that a Lumberton principal did at a kindergarten graduation. The principal, Kevin Wing, is one of the best principals running one of the best schools in Lumberton. Wing asked the parents if they would mind if he said a prayer for the safety of the kids over the summer. That was it. Fortunately, this Christian prayer incident is not likely to cause any anger in Lumberton, TX. In fact, he will probably get a thank you from many parents who would like to see more prayers in school to combat the moral decline that we have seen over the years in America. He certainly should not get in trouble. If a teacher can walk around the school with a Vote Obama shirt on and not get into trouble, and if a different teacher can ask students to wear Muslim burqas and not get into trouble, then it would be discriminatory to punish this principal for a simple school prayer.

Mrs. Horsley Goes To Washington - Tea Party Patriots Call for IRS Audit

Mrs. Kelly Horsley goes to WashingtonIn 1939, Jimmy Stewarts infamous Mr. Smith went to the nations capitol in Washington, D.C. and showed Americans through the cinema that one person can make a difference in changing the course of a nation. Last week, thousands of common American citizens made their way to our capitol to attempt to hold the Obama Administration and the employees of the IRS accountable for their scandalous, if not criminal, behavior in discriminating against the Tea Party and other conservative patriot groups. The crowd heard rousing speeches from Senators and Members of Congress. They also heard speeches from common citizens who traveled in from across the nation to speak to their fellow patriots. Elbert Guillory: “Why I Am a Republican”

Issues:

Elbert Lee Guillory is the state senator for Louisiana District 24.

Senator Guillory recently announced he had decided to change from the Democrat party to the Republican party.

Watch and listen as he explains why he made the move that will undoubtably be demonized by the Congressional Black Caucus and other blacks still on the Dem plantation. Read more about Elbert Guillory: “Why I Am a Republican”

Congressman Sessions' Report from Capitol Hill

Issues:

This week is National Small Business Week, an opportunity to recognize and highlight the contributions of our nation's small businesses – the engine of our economy. One of my top priorities in Congress is to get government out of the way so that Texas small businesses can grow, invest, and hire new workers. Throughout the Obama Administration, small businesses across the country have been unnecessarily burdened by an onslaught of new government rules, regulations, and taxes. The most egregious example of this is the President's health care law. Read more about Congressman Sessions' Report from Capitol Hill

House State Affairs Disruption

Issues:

Small child“There are many ways to kill a child, and abortion may be the kindest way to do it.”

That first line was not only a statement made by one woman who testified (watch the meeting at the House website, here), it was a recurring theme at the House State Affairs Committee meeting on June 20, 2013, even though there is no evidence that increased elective intentional abortion has ever decreased child abuse. Worried About Big Brother? What About LITTLE Brother With Access to INVADE YOUR LIFE?

Issues:

As I watched NSA hearings the other today, I listened to the NSA reps talk about how there were safeguards in place to prevent abuse of their surveillance privileges. I knew I could no longer be silent about the truth behind surveillance rights and just how easy it is to circumvent the system to invade our lives.

I was stalked because safeguards for Government surveillance are inadequate. If this happend to me, it can happen to YOU.

NSA surveillance to prevent terrorism is one thing, but how would you feel if someone in your local law enforcement agency had the same kind of access to your private cell phone, email, social media, and GPS locations?
