You are hereno transparencyAn Administration Plagued By Scandal
They can no longer hide from the problems that come from too much government and an overreach of power. If you tuned into the President’s news conference last Thursday, you heard members of the press link the subpoena of Associated Press phone lines to illegal activities undertaken by members of the Nixon Administration. This was a comparison I made when Attorney General Holder was questioned last week by me and other members of the House Judiciary Committee. In my opinion, this massive intrusion Posted under:

What Should Happen with the Joe Corley Jail?
Texas law allows Counties to issue Revenue Bonds, which are secured by the revenues of a project, without voter approval. But it is inconceivable that the legislature intended this provision to be used where the source of the revenue is not a third party. That is exactly the situation created by the Joe Corley Jail financing. The County established Posted under:
The Harris County School Board of Trustees— An education bureaucracy “zombie” that refuses to die!
Numerous fiscal and education conservatives have weighed in on the Harris County School Board of Trustees (HCSBT) presently doing business as the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE). (Note this is a DBA only…it is NOT a department of Harris County government). Attempts have been made in the past decade to dismantle or defund this entity that should have naturally gone out of existence in the 1960s with the complete conversion of schools from county-run to independent school districts (ISDs). You know things are bad for an Administration when members of their own party come out against them. Well that’s exactly what happened to the Obama Administration last week.
The events that have unfolded over the past week are showing big government at its worst. First we learned more details about the Obama administration’s coordinated attempt to misrepresent the September 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, which claimed four American lives. Then a senior IRS official acknowledged that her agency had deliberately targeted conservative groups for harassment. Meanwhile, the administration was forced to admit
Is the sale of the jail, which the County will continue to lease, the best way to resolve the problems the County has created by building a jail which the County does not currently need?
Harris County taxpayers should consider a trip to the beautiful Texas “pink granite” capitol Tuesday to testify at the House education committee in favor of Rep. Debbie Riddle’s HB945 that would save Harris County taxpayers at least $18,000,000 annually in reduced property taxes.
One of my top priorities in Washington is making the government more open and transparent to the American people- whose tax dollars pay the bills in Washington. This week, I questioned top government oversight experts on the ways that we can make federal agencies more transparent.
Mainstream media has proven since 2007 to be one more arm of the Obama publicity and punditry machine: they highlight and cheer obama’s every perceived accomplishment and black out and cover up any of the president’s failings or missteps.
I joined other Members of Congress in writing a letter to President Obama protesting the White House’s decision to cancel public tours. On March 5, 2013, the White House abruptly announced that they were canceling all tours “until further notice.” This decision comes as thousands of students and families had planned to come to Washington, D.C. over their spring break.
Yesterday marked the anniversary of President Obama convening his most trusted allies and appointees to his Presidential Task Force on the Auto Industry. The Task Force, a working group comprised of presidential cabinet secretaries and high-level senior advisors were tasked with managing and overseeing the taxpayer-funded bailout of General Motors (GM) following the automobile manufacturer’s 2009-bankruptcy filing.
The Republican Party of Texas (RPT) Chairman Steve Munisteri has sent an open letter to U.S. Congress Speaker Boehner, expressing Texas’ GOP grassroots’ extreme disappointment with the recent tax-and-spend-but-no-spending-cuts “deal” cut with the White House. He also encourages the GOP Washington leadership to stand stronger against further “fiscal irresponsibility”, referring to the debt ceiling and tax debate starting already.
