Ted Cruz - A TIME FOR TRUTH...Reigniting the miracle of America

Ted Cruz’s A Time for Truth, Reigniting the Miracle of America was published on June 30th, and within one week had sold almost 12,000 copies. My book arrived on July 6 and I'm looking forward for Ted to sign my book at one of his campaign events. It did not take long to read the 342 pages filled with facts about his childhood, his marriage, family dynamics, and his time with Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Cruz also mentions his race for the US Senate, Obamacare, his filibuster, and the Republican leadership in Washington, DC.

Needless to say, I enjoyed reading about his mischievous teenage pranks and his view of his childhood. I learned that Cruz went to work on the GW Bush presidential campaign as one of the domestic policy advisors, and in Cruz’s opinion, the ‘most important’ moment on the Bush campaign was the hiring his future wife, Heidi Nelson. They were married soon after the election in May, 2001. (P125)

Not to spoil the gist of the book for those that have not yet had the opportunity to read A Time for Truth, I won’t go into detail on any of the subjects mentioned but I will reveal something that surprised me about a presidential candidate’s behavior toward Cruz.

Cruz’s desire to repeal Obamacare has not been a secret since he stood on the senate floor for 21 hours on September 24, 2013. In his book he writes, “When you stand on your feet for twenty-one straight hours in defiance of the president, the Democratic Party, and even many in your own party, you find out who your friends are, who your adversaries are, and who’s in between.” (P 263) The tidbit noted in his book mentions Rand Paul, who Cruz calls a ‘friend’, “came to the senate floor to ask questions that seemed deliberately designed to undermine our efforts.” (P264) The ‘our’ refers to Senator Mike Lee.

The time Cruz spent working as Chief Justice Rehnquist’s clerk was probably the most fascinating to me because I hadn’t heard all of these stories and it brought to light how well versed Cruz is in understanding our laws and our constitution. As solicitor general of Texas, Cruz won several cases in front of the Supreme Court.

Cruz has stood firm on his social values: he is pro-life and is fighting for our Religious Freedom. John Drogin was Cruz’s first campaign manager and he had two questions for Cruz before he agreed to work for him, “Are you Christian?” and “Are you pro-life?” Cruz answered both with an affirmative.

It’s time we take a serious look as to what makes a conscientious leader and what is at risk if we do not elect a strong Commander in Chief. CNN is co-hosting the next debate on September 16 at the Ronald Reagan Library and Nancy Reagan has already sent out invitations to 16 of the 17 candidates. In the latest Fox News poll taken August 11-13, 2015, Donald Trump is still in the #1 spot with 25%, Ben Carson #2 with 12% and Ted Cruz #3 with 10%. Jeb Bush dropped to #4 with 9% and Mike Huckabee and Scott Walker are sharing the #5 spot with 6%.

Cruz may be #3 now, but I suspect he will continue to rise in popularity because he is a man of integrity and courageous moral character. In the time that I have volunteered for him, he has not wavered on his conservatism and certainly not on any of his policies.

It is very important that we know as much as possible about a presidential candidate before he is elected, because as we have experienced with the present administration, knowing very little can prove to be lethal. The society we are seeing today has boiled down to total chaos, America needs a man of strength who will speak the truth and reignite the miracle of America!
