Defeating ISIL: Patriotism Over Politics

There are a lot of members of Congress, including me, that do not agree with the President’s politics and think his Syria plan is too little too late, but in a time of war we must support our Commander-in-Chief, it’s what we do in America.

So Who Does Congressman Culberson Represent: Constituents or Colleagues?

"Working in Congress is like standing under Niagara Falls"-John Culberson (R) Texas said repeatedly during a town hall meeting on September 22, 2014

Really? Sounds like a problem to me. The button on the pants of the federal government has officially shot off into the atmosphere as the bloat and the sheer girth of government has increased to sizes previously unknown. Houston, we have a problem.

Thankfully we have John Culberson fearlessly representing the good folks of Congressional District 7! Um, scratch that. Thankfully we have John Culberson representing the good folks of Congressional District 7!

Hey Target Executives: Criminals With Guns Don’t Abide by Your Corporate Memos

I don’t shop at Target anymore because they favor criminals over law abiding citizens and seem to think, based on their new policy, that disarming law abiding citizens for the criminals is a way to create a “family friendly” environment.

Just weeks after Target’s new policy that requests gun owners leave their guns at home, there has now been another shooting on Target property. Read more about Hey Target Executives: Criminals With Guns Don’t Abide by Your Corporate Memos

October 3rd: Congressional Youth Advisory Council – EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE

Ten years ago, I created the Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC) in order to gain insight from 3rd District high school students and to inspire civic-minded young adults to achieve their full potential. The Council meets approximately twice each school semester. During the CYAC activities, high-achieving students explore the role citizens, lawmakers, experts, and institutions play in a democracy. How is the Political Landscape Shaping Up for the November 2014 Elections?

Issues:

Obama's tough talk on ISIS won't make a political difference because it still shows no strategy, and, so far, none of his alleged coalition (which recently lost Turkey) is willing to put boots on the ground. The other problem is that if you look closely, it seems Obama wants us to be the Shiite Air Force.

Obama's political impact for November? None.

Wendy Davis' Book Tour shows that her New York publisher is selling her chances to win in November short and wants to sell books while they can. Read more about How is the Political Landscape Shaping Up for the November 2014 Elections?

National Guard Saves Life Of Man On Texas-Mexico Border

The Texas National Guard (TNG) saved the life of a man on the Texas-Mexico border who was accidentally injured while working along the river. The victim had severely cut his arm while working to clear brush along the river to aid in detection of illegal border crossings.

The guardsmen were manning an observation post as part of Governor Rick Perry’s Operation Strong Safety when they observed a truck moving

Third Quarterly State Republican Executive Committee Recap

Issues:

Republican Party of Texas - The third quarterly meeting of the State Republican Executive Committee was held on Saturday, September 13th at RPT headquarters in Austin. This was the first full meeting of the SREC since members were elected at the state convention in June. Committees usually meet on the Friday before the SREC meeting, however, committee members were due to be appointed on Saturday so they held unofficial meetings on Friday in order to start discussing the business they intend on pursuing before the next SREC meeting. Talking Health Care, Jobs, and the Economy at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of joining the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce to discuss health care and its impact on jobs and the economy. I heard from members of the community about the real-world consequences of Obamacare and how businesses continue to struggle navigating the new regulations. Mike Turner Statement on Obama’s Remarks at UN General Assembly

Issues:

I was very pleased to hear President Obama’s strong condemnation of Russian aggression in Ukraine at the UN General Assembly today.

As Putin continues to pursue an expansionist and dangerously adventuresome worldview, these remarks come at a critical moment.

Last week, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appeared before a joint session of Congress to request increased aid to Ukraine, including bolstering its military capabilities. Read more about Mike Turner Statement on Obama’s Remarks at UN General Assembly

As terrorists again threaten America, is California prepared?

The rapid deterioration of several nations in the Middle East and North Africa has taken many Americans and our leaders by surprise. Iraq, Syria and Libya have all seen terrorist groups spread their influence and grow in both military power and sophistication. Yemen, Egypt and Nigeria each have a substantial Islamic terrorist presence. North Korea possesses nuclear weapons while Iran continues to develop them together with the means of delivering them.
