Does Immigration Impact Economic Freedom?

The economics literature generally finds a positive, but small, gain in income to native-born populations from immigrants and potentially large gains in world incomes. But immigrants can also impact a recipient nation’s institutions.

A growing empirical literature supports the importance of strong private property rights, a rule of law, and an environment of economic freedom for promoting long run prosperity. Read more about Does Immigration Impact Economic Freedom?

George Will: IRS is 'off the rails' and 'corrupted'

Issues:

George Will, president of Judicial Watch, sat down with Bret Baier Tuesday to discuss the corrupt IRS. The lawyers for the Department of Justice have admitted that the "missing" Lois Lerner emails would be "too onerous" to retrieve.

I can just hardly wait until the IRS lawyers go into that courtroom and tell the judge it would be too onerous to stop obstructing justice in this case. Read more about George Will: IRS is 'off the rails' and 'corrupted'

Celebrating 60 Years of the C-130

Issues:

Sixty years ago Saturday, the first C-130 “Hercules” took off in Burbank, California. Since 1954, Lockheed Martin has created more than 2500 of the planes, and more than half of those are still in operation.

The “Hercules” is a durable yet versatile plane that kept U.S. airmen safe in Vietnam, and continues to serve us through humanitarian relief missions. It’s truly an impressive machine. We’re proud in Texas’ 19th District to be home to the 317th Airlift Group, which is the largest

The Administration is Waffling on Threat of ISIS

I think what the Administration needs to do is come forward with a plan.

Right now, they have no coordinated plan. We have no stated goals and objectives.

The Administration has made inconsistent statements as to whether or not even they see ISIS as a threat to the West or the United States.

British Prime Minister Cameron has clearly stated ISIS is a threat to the West. Read more about The Administration is Waffling on Threat of ISIS

Keeping the Focus At Home

On Monday, August 4, 2014 I began my town hall tour of the 27th Congressional District. Over the span of four days I met with people from across the district to answer questions and to hear what you had to say. My staff and I began the journey in Rockport then on to Corpus Christi, Bay City, Wharton, El Campo, Hallettsville, Bastrop, Gonzales, and Victoria. We have another free town hall August 29th at the Aransas Pass

The Red Tape Cutters

As your representative in Congress, one of my jobs is helping you deal with the government. I want to make sure you are aware that I have Red Tape Cutters in my district offices working to help you.

First, I’d like to share with you a success story. Last year, a local veteran came to us seeking help with his disability claim. He is a retired member of the Army Reserve with severe disabilities which prevent him from working. We did an initial inquiry and sent him an interim letter in early 2014.

No More Boots On The Ground In Iraq Or Syria

Issues:

Has not enough American blood been shed in the Middle East already without the hoped for results? Let’s stop and think about why the culture of the Middle East cannot and will not be changed by more American military on the ground.

For centuries the conflict between warring tribes of Sunnis and Shiites have been unrelenting.

Temporary cessations of the fighting has been just that—temporary. Read more about No More Boots On The Ground In Iraq Or Syria
