Congressman Neugebauer Bill to Reduce Windstorm Damage and Save Lives

Issues:

The House of Representatives voted yesterday on my bill to reduce windstorm damage across America. It promotes research to help save lives, reduce injuries, and lessen communities’ damage from windstorms. Those of us who have experienced these disasters – like the 1970 storm I experienced in Lubbock that took 26 lives – know their devastating effects. And the U.S. averages about 1300 tornadoes a year. Texas Must Take Urgent Action on Migrant Children Crisis

Issues:

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) and I authored the following op-ed today in The Houston Chronicle:

It is no secret that we come from different political parties and differ on many issues. But we are Texans and we know that with the responsibility of public office comes the duty to take action when others will not - to find solutions for the problems facing our state. The Bandits Of Hamas Keep On Shooting

Issues:

The Hamas terrorists in Gaza keep shooting their rockets into Israel. Israel has used defensive weapons to intercept some. However, Iranian-backed Hamas keeps on reloading its six-shooters and firing into civilian areas.

The Israeli Government is shooting back and is headed to Gaza to stop the bandits.

Our government wants a cease-fire. Cease-fires in the past have just given Hamas time to obtain more ammo rockets from Iran. Also, Hamas shields its command centers underneath schools and hospitals in Gaza. So it cowers behind women, children, the elderly, and the sick. Congressman Smith STEM Bill Clears House

The House of Representatives approved the STEM Education Act of 2014 (H.R. 5031). The STEM Education Act of 2014 strengthens ongoing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education efforts and ensures computer science is included in these efforts.

We need to ensure that young adults have the scientific and mathematical skills to strive and thrive in a technology-based economy. But we have to capture and hold the desire of our nation’s youth to study science and engineering so they will want to pursue these careers.

Why Does Obama Do and Say What He Does?

Many Americans are puzzled at the lack of strong leadership for America demonstrated by the president. Many of us believe we know why he makes decisions that are bad for America. This article by political writer and commentator, Maureen Scott, really hits the nail on the head.

There are some gifted people who have the ability to put into words that of which most of us are thinking. Maureen Scott is an ardent American patriot who was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and retired to

Reducing Tax Bias Against Investment

Issues:

On Friday, I voted for a bill to encourage investment, growth, and a strong recovery of the U.S. economy. This bonus depreciation bill allows businesses to immediately deduct half the cost of new equipment they need to increase their production. It will work alongside the Section 179 expensing bill we passed last month that permanently increased expensing limits. Together, these two bills will provide flexibility to reduce the initial cost of growing a business. They free up resources for farmers and small business owners to invest in their employees and production. Read more about Reducing Tax Bias Against Investment

What is Amnesty?

Alan Nash, author of the "10 for 10" Plan, gives the definition of amnesty.

What is amnesty?

Amnesty is the status quo.

Amnesty is allowing illegals to stay here, unidentified, uncounted, undocumented, and untaxed.

Amnesty is shouting for self-deportation, which is a fantasy, and which will never happen.

Amnesty is denouncing those who have real solutions. Those who want to eliminate the job magnet that creates this flood of illegals.

Amnesty is shouting but doing absolutely nothing to realistically solve the problems. Read more about What is Amnesty?

Cornyn, Cuellar Offer HUMANE Act to Solve Border Crisis

Issues:

WASHINGTON— Tomorrow U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, and Border Security, and U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, will introduce the Helping Unaccompanied Minors and Alleviating National Emergency (HUMANE) Act, legislation designed to reform current law and solve the ongoing humanitarian crisis on our southern border.

“Congressman Cuellar and I are proposing a solution to the current crisis on our border,” said Sen. Cornyn. “Our proposal would improve the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2008, treating all unaccompanied minors equally and ensuring Due Process under the law in a timely, fair manner.” Read more about Cornyn, Cuellar Offer HUMANE Act to Solve Border Crisis
