Suing the President for Executive Overreach

Remember when President Obama unilaterally delayed Obamacare’s employer mandate without Congressional approval – twice? Or when he tried to grossly expand EPA’s authority? How about when he told us all he needs to push his own liberal agenda without Congress is a pen and a phone? What I have been hearing from you in West Texas is that the President’s abusing his authority, and he’s taking our country in the wrong direction. I agree. I’m especially worried about his unilateral actions to bypass Congress – and bypass the U.S. Constitution. Read more about Suing the President for Executive Overreach

Texas Rep. David Simpson attacked at Town Hall meeting

It seems conservative State Rep. David Simpson who represents the people of District 7 in East Texas has caused some tempers to flare. He held a Town Hall meeting on July 22, 2014 after his seven day family vacation along the Texas-Mexico border. His detailed account is amazing and includes aerial views to show the Rio Grande winding in and out of Mexico and the complexities of securing the Texas-Mexico border. He explained that the border runs in the deepest part of the Rio Grande making it virtually impossible to build a fence there. Read more about Texas Rep. David Simpson attacked at Town Hall meeting

Job-Luring Funds Go Under the Microscope at the Texas Capitol

The special Texas House committee appointed by Speaker Joe Straus to scrutinize Gov. Perry’s job-luring pots of money – chiefly the Texas Enterprise Fund – got down to work last Wednesday. In its first hearing, the House Select Committee on Economic Development Incentives listened to expert witnesses for and against the incentives that were called everything from “interstate job piracy” to essential “tools in the toolbox” for continuation of the state’s dynamic economic growth.

Chair of the committee, Rep. Angie Chen Button, R-Richardson, stressed that while Texas has been a dominant

My Opening Talk at Mises University 2014

The Mises Institute’s week-long Mises University instructional program for students was the most significant academic event of my life as a student when I first attended it in 1993. It’s still going strong even today, and last night, for the second year in a row, I delivered the opening talk. The title I was given was “The Role of Austrian Economics in the Liberty Movement.” If you enjoy the talk and want to learn more about Austrian economics, check out my LearnAustrianEconomics.com resource. A San Antonio man was convicted on July 23 for his role in a prostitution ring that involved at least two under-aged girls. The man is the second person to be convicted in this scheme which resulted in federal charges being filed against three men and one woman.

GM Car Coffins

GM has experienced some bad press, because they manufacture death traps. They paid back $40 billion on a $50 billion loan from the American taxpayer, netting $10 billion, and what do they do: build rolling mechanical coffins.

So the announcement that GM has issued another 6 recalls, as reported in this video, is not a surprise. Read more about GM Car Coffins

The Hungry Russian Bear

In the sky above eastern Ukraine, a surface-to-air missile was launched, and it destroyed a Malaysian civilian airliner. The dastardly deed killed – rather, murdered ---298 people. It appears the missile and launcher were Russian. The individuals shooting down the plane were so-called “Russian backed separatists” in Ukraine. Apparently the crash, which is a crime scene on the ground, is controlled by pro-Russian sympathizers, and it has been compromised by unknown malcontents.

It seems to me the Russian emperor Putin--- the Napoleon of Siberia-- has his pitiful, complicit fingerprints all over the Lusitania-type incident.
