On Heels of House Vote against Trafficking, 63 Members of Congress Urge Attorney General Holder to Crack Down On Buyers

WASHINGTON, DC—This week the House of Representatives sent a clear, bipartisan message that America’s children are not for sale by passing a number of bills dealing with child trafficking. However, not a single one of those bills deals with the people who buy children for sex. And during a recent nationwide operation targeting sex trafficking, no buyers of underage children were arrested. While those bills, and the sting, are all necessary and should be fully supported, the root of the problem cannot be addressed until both

Lois Lerner backup tapes found

Studying Liberals as long as I have, I have learned quite well the smell of a RAT! The Lois Lerner backup tapes have been found. I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that her emails were never lost. So did they use this time to scrub them? Possibly. I think they have just decided who’s going down, and the calls have been made. One more trial balloon before the IRS starts chopping heads. Read more about Lois Lerner backup tapes found

Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris choose politics over leadership on Central American children issue

The crisis resulting from tens of thousands of Central American children traversing dangerous territory to cross our porous border is one that demands leadership. But don’t look for it from those who currently occupy California’s highest offices.

In a Friday story, the Los Angeles Times discovered that for California governor aspirants Gavin Newsom (D) and Kamala Harris (D), politics trumps all. Read more about Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris choose politics over leadership on Central American children issue

We Will Not Conform: Portrait of a Home School Family

We will not conform. We will not conform. We will not conform. No, it isn't a chant or a mantra. It's a statement of fact. Something that we as grassroots activists should be used to by now. How about another group of folks who could be considered full-time protesters? Another group of people who might be used to not conforming for even longer than the tea party groups have been around.

Defending Our Veterans’ Religious Freedom

Just after we found out about the VA covering up wait times for veterans, we found out they’re also covering up Christian symbols in VA chapels. We’ve heard reports that the VA has hidden a statue of Jesus Christ, a cross, and an altar in order to promote the appearance of ‘religious neutrality.’ This dishonors our veterans and our longstanding history of religious freedom. Where are all the Latina Republicans?

Issues:

Here’s a little-known fact: There’s not a single female Hispanic Republican in the Texas Legislature. The state hasn’t elected a Republican Latina to Congress either.

This is alarming, considering that 50 percent of Texas’ 26 million residents are female and 38 percent are Hispanic. Read more about Where are all the Latina Republicans?

Governor Rick Perry - Time to Secure the Border

Issues:

“If there is no national security you cannot have that without border security.” - Gov. Rick Perry

Texas Governor Rick Perry held a Press Conference on July 21, 2014, and in case you missed it, I am providing a link if you care to listen. His message was clear, “I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault and little children from Central America are detained in squalor. We are too good a country for that to occur.”

Simplifying the Tax Code for Families

Tags:

As a parent and grandparent, I know there’s nothing more rewarding than building a family. But I also know having kids can come at a high cost. This week, the House will vote on two bills to streamline our current tax code to reduce the cost of starting a family and sending your kids to college. The Child Tax Credit Improvement Act of 2014 adjusts the child tax credit to account for recent inflation and eliminates our current tax code’s marriage penalty

Senator Cornyn Introduces Bill To Boost Transparency Of Endangered Species Listings

Today, I introduced legislation to dramatically boost transparency of the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service’s listing process for endangered species. This legislation stands as the Senate companion to H.R. 4315, introduced by U.S. Rep. Doc Hastings, Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee. The legislation would require the Secretaries of the Interior and Commerce departments to make the best scientific and commercial data publicly available on the Internet as it relates to future listings and de-listings under the Endangered Species Act.
