Neugebauer Introduces Constitutional Amendment to Prevent Tax Increases

Issues:

Today I introduced legislation that would make it more difficult to raise taxes on hardworking Americans. The government already takes enough money from Americans. President Obama raised taxes by $1 trillion under Obamacare. He raised them again by $600 billion in the fiscal cliff deal. And his budget requests another $1.1 trillion in increased tax revenue. Enough is enough. Read more about Neugebauer Introduces Constitutional Amendment to Prevent Tax Increases

House Committee to Hear Misclassification Bill and We Need Your Help

Issues:

stop employee misclassificationJust last week, our own Bob Price wrote about how our readers can make a difference when it comes to the fight against misclassification in Texas. Bob urged you to reach out to the state senators who are considering a bill by Sen. John Carona, R-Dallas, that would impose penalties on companies found to be cheating on their taxes by misclassifying their workers.

Coming up this Wednesday, on the House side, a committee is

The Democratic Party Income Tax—the truth about it

Issues:

The U.S. income tax code is infamous for its complexity (think special interest lobbyists), and its “progressive” nature—named not for the fact that it increases with increasing income but rather, because it was the brainchild of the Progressive party that is now called the Democratic Party. In that sense, maybe we should call it the “Democratic Party Income Tax”.

However, let’s assume that there are six different people standing in line to buy groceries. They all buy precisely the same things, and the cash register total comes out to $100 even, no sales tax included since the goods are food. All six dutifully plop down their cash, debit or credit cards, write a check, or hand over a “Lone Star” card. Read more about The Democratic Party Income Tax—the truth about it

Congressman Smith Supports Bill to Hold President Accountable on Appointments

Issues:

I support legislation to address the legal chaos surrounding the President’s unconstitutional recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). The Preventing Greater Uncertainty in Labor-Management Relations Act (H.R. 1120) orders the NLRB to cease and desist on all actions that require a full quorum until the entire board is confirmed by the Senate.

The Act prevents the Board from implementing, administering or enforcing any decisions finalized on or after January 4, 2012. The bill passed by a vote of 219-209. Read more about Congressman Smith Supports Bill to Hold President Accountable on Appointments

The Harris County School Board of Trustees— An education bureaucracy “zombie” that refuses to die!

Issues:

Harris County taxpayers should consider a trip to the beautiful Texas “pink granite” capitol Tuesday to testify at the House education committee in favor of Rep. Debbie Riddle’s HB945 that would save Harris County taxpayers at least $18,000,000 annually in reduced property taxes. (Details here.)

Numerous fiscal and education conservatives have weighed in on the Harris County School Board of Trustees (HCSBT) presently doing business as the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE). (Note this is a DBA only…it is NOT a department of Harris County government). Attempts have been made in the past decade to dismantle or defund this entity that should have naturally gone out of existence in the 1960s with the complete conversion of schools from county-run to independent school districts (ISDs). 2013 Texas Legislature - Allen Fletcher's Bill Regarding Heavy Trucks - One Step Closer to Safer Roads

Overweight trucks are crushing Texas RoadwaysTexas highways and roads moved one step closer to being safer and properly maintained after a hearing this week in Austin about HB 3094 by Republican Representative Allen Fletcher (R-Cypress). Currently there is little deterrent in the law that would keep trucks from overloading causing roads that are designed to last 20-30 years to crumble under the excessive loads in less than 10 years. This is a huge cost to taxpayers and a safety risk to all who drive on damaged Texas roads. 2013 Texas Legislature - Moving Forward on Fighting Employee Misclassification

Texas Legislature Moving Forward on Misclassification by Bob PriceFor several years, TexasGOPVote and ConstructionCitizen.com have been sounding the alarm about issues related to employee misclassification and why this is a problem for Texas taxpayers and businesses. The 2011 Legislative Session was unable to pass any meaningful changes to the law to help correct the problems caused by misclassification. It now appears that a coalition of business associations and concerned legislators may well move the issue forward during the 2013 session.

Testimony was heard in the Texas Senate on SB 676 filed by Senator John Carona (R-Dallas). The committee heard testimony from business owners, trade association and labor groups, all of whom

(Video) CSCOPE Director: "I Would Have Killed For CSCOPE" - Danny Lovett Lumberton ISD

Issues:

Region 5 Executive Director, and one of the heads of CSCOPE, Danny Lovett says, "I would have killed for CSCOPE." Did he go too far with this statement? I know he likes CSCOPE, and it probably helps him keep a good paying job if he keeps his CSCOPE program from collapsing, but seriously, he loves it so much that he would KILL for it?

This video is from when Dr. Danny Lovett came to Lumberton ISD a couple of weeks ago. Many parents at Lumberton ISD are upset that the CSCOPE Curriculum is being used in Lumberton schools. Lovetts purpose for coming to Lumberton ISD was to try to promote CSCOPE as something awesome so that all the parents
