Fighting to End Human Trafficking

The House Homeland Security Committee held a field hearing in Houston, “Combating Human Trafficking in Major Cities.” Human trafficking is often called “modern-day slavery”.

Exposing the Minimum Wage Fallacy

Raising the minimum wage will increase wages, but it won’t increase purchasing power, which means the standard of living for those making minimum wage will not increase. Those who trumpet raising the minimum wage as a way to alleviate the burden of poverty do not understand how businesses operate. This is nothing more than an attempt to attract voters ahead of a contentious midterm election cycle. Read more about Exposing the Minimum Wage Fallacy

How Has the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) Impacted Your Life?

While many in the State don’t know or care, the fact is that the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is insolvent. That is a problem that impacts every Texan, even if they don’t have a TWIA policy, because it will result in higher fees and taxes for every citizen. Fortunately, Senate District 4 candidate Gordy Bunch has a plan to fix it and is committed to doing just that.

We will be covering this story in the coming weeks. In the meantime, comment below with your TWIA stories - good or bad. We want to hear from you! Read more about How Has the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) Impacted Your Life?

Cruz, GOP Senators, Object to IMF Expansion in Ukraine Aid Package

Four Republican senators joined me in sending a letter to Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid providing notification they will support an objection to the Ukrainian aid package unless a vote is held to strip out language regarding International Monetary Fund changes.

By insisting on these unnecessary IMF provisions, Senate Democrats are trying to force us to choose between reasserting American leadership in this critical region by helping our ally Ukraine, and re-imposing some fiscal discipline here at home. This false choice has been the order of business in Washington for too long,

Voting Machine Irregularities Claimed in Two Border County Democrat Primaries

Issues:

Claims of voting machine irregularities have been made to county election officials in two Democrat Primaries in Hidalgo and El Paso Counties following the 2014 Joint Primary Election.

In Hidalgo County, The McAllen Monitor reports that at least twelve candidates from the March 4th Democrat Primary to the County Commissioners’ Court have requested the County launch a forensic audit of the voting machines used in the election. In one of the letters obtained by Breitbart Texas dated March 12th, it was alleged, “…that numerous inconsistencies and discrepancies have appeared in our analysis of each candidate’s races. We therefore ask that a forensic expert

Demanding respect for the U.S. Constitution

“I taught Constitutional law for ten years. I take the Constitution very seriously. The biggest problems that we’re facing right now have to do with [President] George Bush trying to bring more and more power into the executive branch and not going through Congress at all. And that’s what I intend to reverse when I’m president of the United States of America.” Read more about Demanding respect for the U.S. Constitution

2012 Texas Republican Convention & The Texas Solution

Issues:

In June 2012, at the Republican Party of Texas Convention in Fort Worth, I was the only Republican elected official to speak to the Platform Committee and to the approximately 8,000 member delegation in favor of adopting the “Texas Solution” immigration plank in our Texas Republican Party Platform. During the floor debate, several key votes were taken on the Texas Solution. By their votes, Convention delegates voted overwhelmingly to support the Texas Solution.
