Mexican Cartel Now in the Ore Mining Business

Issues: 

The infamous Mexican drug cartel the Knights Templar has apparently diversified outside of illegal substances and into illegal mining, logging and extortion according to recent wire reports and leading border crime experts.

According to an Associated Press (AP) report, Alfredo Castillo--a special envoy of the Mexican government sent into the southwestern Mexican state of Michoacán--said iron ore “is the principle source of income” for the cartel. Read more about Mexican Cartel Now in the Ore Mining Business

Protecting Our Constitutional Rights

Issues: 

The President keeps assuming powers that directly violate the Constitution, and I will not stand Obama trying to rule the U.S. like a king. This week the House passed 2 bills that will hold the President accountable for his actions and return the balance of powers in the government. Under Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution, the President is required to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” but Obama has chosen to ignore some laws or create exemptions in laws for his friends and contributors. I saw this chart for the most polluted cities in China, as well as in the U.S. A couple of things stand out.

EPA Scientific Review Panel Lacks Independence

As Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I sent a letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy today raising serious concerns about the agency’s scientific advisory processes. The letter highlights potential conflicts of interest and a lack of transparency within EPA’s supposedly independent scientific panel charged with reviewing what could be the most expensive regulation in history. By EPA’s own cost estimate, lowering ozone standards to the range being discussed by the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) Ozone Review Panel could cost nearly $100 billion per year. Convicted Tax Evader Plotted to Kill Texas Federal Judge

Issues: 

Instead of possibly going to prison for up to twenty years for filing false tax returns, Phillip Ballard now faces a certain twenty years in federal prison for attempting to hire a contract killer to target the judge hearing his case. Ballard was sentenced this week according to records obtained by Breitbart Texas for his role in trying to hire a man to kill Federal Judge John McBryde, a U.S. District Court Judge from the Northern District of Texas.
