I was honored to be appointed to the House-Senate conference committee on the Farm Bill on Saturday. A conference committee is created to resolve the differences between legislation passed by the House and Senate. While both the House and Senate strengthened crop insurance and moved to more market-based policies, there are still some differences we’ll have to bridge.

The Texas Patriots PAC, located in The Woodlands, Texas, recently hosted an evening with Heritage Foundation President and former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint. He spoke to the group about the current federal government shutdown and the implementation problems associated with ObamaCare. DeMint also discussed border security, illegal immigration and energy related issues with the PAC.

Fresh off of his major endorsement from the Houston Chronicle last week, I sat down again with Bill Frazer, conservative candidate for the City of Houston Controllers Office. As the only certified public accountant in the race, Frazer is already hard at work on digging into and shining a spotlight on some of the City of Houstons biggest financial issues - pensions and debt.

In this interview with Frazer, we drilled down specifically into the City of Houstons debt problems and the City Controllers role in shining light onto these problems. The current Controller, Ron Green, has done a poor job of exposing the debt problems of the city.

Candidate for Houston CIty Council, At Large Position 3, Michael Kubosh returned to TexasGOPVote to discuss the City of Houstons financial condition and what he would bring to City Council. As an at large member of council, Kubosh would focus on many issues that directly effect the city-wide aspects of our municipal budget.

Kubosh opened the interview discussing a financial management report that was ordered by city council. "That report was published," Kubosh said,
