Oilfield Engineer Ryan Sitton Enters Crowded Field in Race for Texas Railroad Commission

Issues:

Ryan SittonHouston oilfield engineer and small business owner, Ryan Sitton, announced his campaign for the Texas Railroad Commission this week in Houston. Sitton enters a crowded field of candidates running to fill the seat vacated by Commission Chairman Barry Smitherman, who is now running for Texas Attorney General.

Sitton will campaign on the issues of technical experience and the conservative leadership that is so critical right now for our states energy regulatory commission. Sitton is the only candidate currently in the race who lives and works in the Houston metropolitan area and has put together the funds and resources necessary to run a statewide campaign. The Real Division Of Republicans That We Are Seeing

Issues:

To begin with, our own Texas Senators are divided on this strategy in the debate over defunding Obamacare. The reticent call the aggressive conservatives inexperienced, hasty, dangerous and divisive. And conservatives consider the reluctant RINOS, liberals, collaborators and cowards. On both sides, most of that talk isn’t true and it isn’t helpful. I’m with Cruz that Republicans should use every tool in the shed to stall or stop Obamacare. But we should expose the terror of the policy and attack the strategy fiercely, and I do. But describing the fearful as liberals is neither accurate or compelling them to switch. Read more about The Real Division Of Republicans That We Are Seeing

While Ted Cruz Stands on Senate Floor, House Works on Immigration Reform Process

Issues:

As Senator Ted Cruz wrapped up his historic speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate, House members continue their work on other important issues facing our nation - namely, immigration reform and border security. The House has already done its work to continue the operation of our government by passing its continuing resolution that funds all governmental operations EXCEPT Obamacare and can continue their other work while the Democrats in the Senate decide if they are going to shut down the government. SOS John Kerry Signs U.N. Arms Treaty - Attorney General Greg Abbott Repsonds

Issues:

In April, the United Nations passed an arms control treaty that poses a serious threat to the 2nd Amendment rights and other constitutionally protected rights of American citizens. At that time Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott declared a "Red Flag Alert" and put the federal government on notice that he would fight to defend the rights of Texans and all Americans against foreign intervention into our Constitution and Laws. Open Letter to All United States Senators

Issues:

Dear Senator,

When I was in school, we were taught that the United States Senate was “the world’s greatest deliberative body”. Under your current majority leader, it has been run more like the Soviet Politburo, with dissent, deliberation, and true debate stifled at every turn.

The very idea of amending a bill or resolution AFTER debate has ceased, (as your current rules allow) is repugnant to the ideals of a free republic that values open expression and debate. Read more about Open Letter to All United States Senators

Will Red State Democrats Vote to Defund Obamacare?

Today I outlined my support for the House-passed Continuing Resolution that defunds Obamacare and called on Democrats to join me.

Senator Reid has set up his red state Democrats to vote once again to fund Obamacare, or to decide they were for it before they were against it and to vote ‘No.’

Obamacare has been a dismal failure. If you like what you have, you can’t keep it. Read more about Will Red State Democrats Vote to Defund Obamacare?

Urge the Senate to Act to Defund Obamacare

Issues:

Last week, I voted to defund Obamacare while also keeping other government operations running. On Friday, the House passed a Continuing Resolution, also commonly known as a CR, which controls spending, protects Americans from the harmful consequences of Obamacare, and prevents a government shutdown. Last week, I told you that I had concerns with the CR that was introduced earlier this month, so I had decided to co-sponsor a conservative alternative. I’m happy to say that by insisting on a no-gimmicks vote to defund Obamacare, we were able to change the CR and pass a much stronger alternative. Now it’s time for the Senate to act.

TX Senator Donna Campbell Champion Of SD-25

Issues:

Senator Donna Campbell has stirred some debate since her election in November 2012 because of her strong fiscal and social conservatism. She has raised people’s awareness of the issues that need to be addressed in SD25 and Texas. One of Senator Campbell’s attributes is her ability to quickly reflect on her answer and in her usual direct manner response to the questions posed to her. Her explanation on her ‘NO’ vote on the Texas budget was forthright. Read more about TX Senator Donna Campbell Champion Of SD-25

Houston Young Republicans (HYR): Constable Hickman discusses Human Trafficking

Issues:

The issue of human trafficking has been the focus of committees and community advocacy organizations in Houston for the last decade. But little gets done (at least inside City limits) to tackle what many feel is the most egregious human rights travesty of the modern era.

Houston Young Republicans is leading the way in examining the facts, and discovering what kinds of solutions have been implemented elsewhere to slow and even eliminate the abhorrent practice of human trafficking and sex slavery in other major urban centers.
