Allen West Suspends Florida CD-18 Recount

The following is a statement from Congressman Allen West regarding his Florida CD-18 race:

For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly. We have made progress towards that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process. While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.

While there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results and the actions of the St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections rightly raise questions in my mind and for many voters, after much analysis and yesterday’s recount in St. Lucie County, our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, undercounted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election. The Coming Economic Storm

Issues:

The Obama Administration is playing chicken with the economy while hoping their friends in the media blame the GOP for any repercussions if the fiscal cliff leads to a serious recession. Let's be clear, the case is over not whether to increase taxes, per se, or increase revenues, but over the tax rates. It has become a battle of symbolism over substance, something Democrats excel at. Bankruptcy Courts Part 3 - Hostess Bankruptcy: Unions, Management or Investment Bankers...Where's the Dough?

Issues:

Wonder where the Hostess jobs went?A staple food group icon of an overweight America now becomes an example of what is wrong in our business system and bankruptcy processes. In an announcement last Friday, November 16th, Hostess CEO Gregory Rayburn, said "We deeply regret the necessity of today's decision [to shutdown Hostess' entire business], but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike."  So how exactly was the money spent after the 2004 restructuring by private equity firm Ripplewood Holdings?  Was it well directed toward rebuilding the company's business?  The decision to force Irving, Texas based Hostess and their entire brand line of products out of business will mean the end of 18,500 jobs and two billion Twinkies.  But who walked away with the dough?

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:  According to the Houston Business Journal at 2:50 p.m. today, Hostess Brands, Inc. and the BCTGMI Union have entered into a confidential mediation stopping the planned shutdown of the company. How to Revamp Texas Schools

Issues:

As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas. This includes our education system where, according to the Comptroller's 2010-2011 FAST report, 60% of the State's general revenue is spent. However, Texas has a big problem is our low graduation rate, which a report by the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice in 2008 found to be at only 67%. Factoring in costs associated with lost revenue from taxes and fees, increased Medicaid enrollment, and increased incarceration rates, the report estimated that the annual public cost associated with the high dropout rate is $377 million. Permanent Normalized Trade Relations

Issues:

On Friday, the House approved – in an overwhelmingly bipartisan manner – the Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal Act of 2012 (H.R. 6156). This common-sense legislation would establish Permanent Normalized Trade Relations (PNTR) with Russia and Moldova and provide a much-needed boost to the U.S. economy. PNTR would double exports to Russia in five years and help create jobs across every sector of our economy, especially in manufacturing, agriculture, and the service industry. Benghazi - What Happened and Why did General Ham Suddenly "Retire"

Just exactly whatGeneral Carter Ham happened in Benghazi, Libya, in a terror attack that left four Americans dead, is the subject of heated national discussion—especially now that elections are complete. One critical concern is who issued a "stand-down" order under which help was not dispatched to the Americans under fire from al-Qaida.

Now apparently one person who would be in a position to offer details, Gen. Carter Ham, has allegedly made the decision to "retire."

We will NEVER stop working to restore our country to our core beliefs

Let us be clear; God has not abandoned America. But the election results last week underscore that it is His will that will be done, not ours, and it will be in His time.

We will NEVER stop working to restore our country to our core beliefs.

What was true two weeks ago is still true. Read more about We will NEVER stop working to restore our country to our core beliefs

Alfonzo Rachel: Faith and Politics, the Taboo Topic!

Issues:

I had the privilege of sitting down with Alfonzo Rachel recently. We had a frank discussion about our Christian faith and how we relate that to politics as Black Americans. Should Christians vote for politicians who promote anti-Christ policy? How do we in the Black community square our faith with our votes? We had a very frank and interesting exchange. I think we answered a lot of the questions we are

Rep. Culberson Statement of Support for Israel

Issues:

I released the following statement on the situation in Gaza and his continued support for Israel:

I stand firmly with Israel and offer my continued prayers for their safety and security. The United States has no greater ally in the world, and I urge this administration to honor our commitment to them. Israel has the absolute right to defend itself against the countless

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott Stands Beside Gun Owners

Texas Attorney General Greg AbbottIn the days leading up to the election, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott issued an opinion about an employer's ability to ban Texans with a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) from leaving a gun locked in their private vehicle in a company parking lot. This is yet another example of the AG's steadfast support of the rights of an individual to protect themselves.

The opinion, requested by Texas State Senator Robert Deuell (R-Greenville) said that Section 30.06 of the Texas penal code, which allows employers to post notices on building entrances restricting handguns or other firearms being carried on the premises, does not supersede the state law that protects CHL holders.
