Culberson Calls for Creation of a Select Committee to Fully Investigate the Benghazi Terrorist Attacks

Issues:

Today, I joined Rep. Frank Wolf and nine of our colleagues in introducing a bill to establish a House Select Committee on the Terrorist Attack in Benghazi.

Eighty-four days have passed since the attack, and the administration has told the American people very little about the murder of four Americans in Benghazi. This select committee will investigate the terrorist attacks and determine what should be done

Democrats Object to Bipartisan STEM Jobs Act

Issues:

Today U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) along with several of his colleagues went to the Senate floor to call up H.R. 6429, the bipartisan STEM Jobs Act, which passed the House earlier this week. Senate Democrats objected to the bill, which would boost job creation and spur economic growth by reallocating up to 55,000 green cards a year to the top foreign graduates of U.S. universities with advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.

Reps. Poe & Maloney Introduce The Safer Act Of 2012

Issues:

Tuesday, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and I introduced H.R. 6628, The Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Registry (SAFER) Act of 2012. This bipartisan bill will help law enforcement process rape kits. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced the Senate companion bill in May.

Victims of crime should not be denied justice because of a bureaucratic backlog. It is my hope that the SAFER Act will bring to light the necessity of testing rape kits as quickly as possible in order to bring swift justice to violent criminals. Victims of violent crime should not be left in the dark about the status of their case

Hispanic Political Organization Voted Into the Republican Party of Texas

Issues:

Houston, Texas – Today the Republican Party of Texas (Texas GOP) the state’s largest and most effective advocate for promoting a conservative philosophy of government, voted the Republican Hispanic Citizens In Action committee as an official State Republican Group.

“It is imperative that Hispanic Republican groups come alive given that we are now the largest minority in the Nation. Moreover, in the 2012 Presidential election, Blacks outvoted Hispanics 65% to 50% which indicates it is a wake-up call for Hispanics to get more engaged in the political process” said Eric Melchor, RHCIA member. Return of Bowles-Simpson

Here is a new story that shows the absurdity of Obamanomics or the Obama class warfare strategy of economic growth. Great Britain reported the number of millionaires dropping by two-thirds and revenues expected from those millionaires dropping by half after raising tax rates to 50%. While the goal was to raise revenues to lower the budget deficits, revenues fail to meet expectations and worse, the Britain's weak economy took a hit.

The “Fiscal Cliff”

Negotiations are ongoing to reach an agreement and avert what is known as the “fiscal cliff,” a combination of automatic tax increases and cuts to our defense spending that will take place starting next month. House Republicans have proposed a bipartisan solution that combines significant spending cuts and tax reform with lower rates. I support a tax rate extension for every American, and will continue working to keep current tax rates in place for families and small businesses.

In contrast, Democrats in Congress have downplayed the danger of going over the cliff,

Weston Martinez On Voter Fraud In Bexar County

When Texans think of Voter Fraud, it’s hard not to think about the 200 ballots found in Jim Wells County giving Lyndon Johnson victory over his Republican opponent for the senate seat in 1948. Texas has a history of Voter Fraud, no doubt about it. Voter Fraud is one reason that some believe we lost the 2012 presidential election. Thinking that there is Voter Fraud is one thing and proving that there is Voter Fraud is quite another. I also believe that in some cases it probably does not affect the outcome of the race but every effort should be made to keep the integrity of the vote. The Truth About Taxes

Look, as the nation stands today, I’m not at all certain that it’s constructive in any way, or even morally appropriate to continue to play this counter-constitutional game of states and individuals standing by for the federal government assigning various and differing tax rates and intruding in the conduct of commerce across the country. I should clarify that I realize that the Sixteenth Amendment approved an income tax in The Constitution.

ObamaCare's Continuing Legal Problems

Issues:

There are a growing number of employer lawsuits seeking relief from all or part of the ObamaCare contraception mandate currently winding their way through the federal judicial system. As we approach the end of the year, the number of court rulings on these cases is steadily increasing. And the rulings do not bode well for a quick resolution to the legal challenges to Mr. Obama’s signature legislation. Read more about ObamaCare's Continuing Legal Problems

“Complete Transformation of the Economic Structure of the World”

Issues:

The United Nations is meeting in Qatar to negotiate a “complete transformation of the economic structure of the world,” explained Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change at a Monday press conference.

“What is occurring here, not just in Doha, but in the whole climate change process is the complete transformation of the economic structure of the world. It should happen much quicker, but it cannot happen overnight,” she added.

Figueres concluded, “This Conference of the Parties will produce a second commitment period to the Kyoto Protocol, the only legally binding agreement. It will have the necessary amendments to go into a second
