Recession Hits Texas

Despite some calls for secession by Texas politicians we are still part of the USA and are affected by national trends. Thus we are seeing rising unemployment in Texas;  combine this with lower economic growth, especially in the oil patch, and we can safely say that recession is here! Recently, it has been revealed the State needs a 2 billion dollar federal loan to bail out our empty unemployment funds and this is after Tom Pauken's strong leadership here. How did this happen? Dems censor Congress. Republicans not allowed to speak out on health care

Democrats have already attacked Rep. Brady's (R-TX) healthcare reform chart, threatening to use House rules to prohibit its dissemination. Now the Democrats are at it again, censoring Rep. John Carter's (R-TX) messages to constituents.

Connie Hair reports in a Human Events article that Democrats on the Franking Commission are no longer allowing Republicans to use the phrase "government run health care" in the communications to their constituents. The Franking Commission told Rep. John Carter:

Health Care Pledge for U.S. Senators

Powerline has posted a pledge that Virginia's two Senators have been asked to sign.  The pledge needs to be placed in front the remaining 98:

My Pledge to My Constituents on National Health Insurance
1. I will not vote to expand the bankrupt Medicare program unless and until it is first placed on a sound actuarial basis.
2. I will not vote for any national health insurance legislation that includes a public plan unless I am prepared to enroll myself and my family in the public plan. If a national health insurance bill with a public plan passes the Senate with my vote in support, then I pledge to enroll myself and my family in that public plan.

Senators Hutchinson and Cornyn, how about it?  I am pretty sure neither of them would have a problem doing so.  It's so good to be in Texas. Read more about Health Care Pledge for U.S. Senators
