For a long time now, I have been saying that doing nothing about our broken immigration system has created a de-facto amnetsty for the millions of illegal immigrants in this country. Now the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is catching up and saying the same thing. In a message to its members, Rob Engstrom, Seniro Vice President and National Political Director, U.S. Chamber of Commerce said, "The immigration system is broken. With over 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the U.S., doing nothing is de facto amnesty."

Researching everything going on in relation to the bankruptcy series I have been writing can be pretty dry. H.R. 1122, the Protecting Life in Funding Education (PRO-LIFE) Act restricts funding to school districts that contract with third party “school-based health centers” unless they certify they won’t perform abortions and they won’t provide abortion referrals or materials to students. A Mexican officer claims the military is indeed at war with drug cartels for territory in northern Mexico and that vast numbers of children have been left homeless and hungry by the war in the seemingly unreachable cartel-controlled territory. The officer spoke with me in person on the condition of anonymity. When I asked him to explain which cartels were fighting in Nuevo Laredo, he explained that things were not so simple and not so easily defined. This morning, I responded on the Senate floor to President Obama’s assertion in an interview with ABC News that there is no immediate debt crisis.
The President has said that we must embrace a "balanced approach" to deficit reduction. Of course, reasonable people can disagree on what a balanced approach looks like, but we all know what a balanced budget looks like.
Millennial Republicans in Houston are breaking with the establishment to chart a new course for the GOP, built on facing political realities, while maintaining that better communication--not giving away the store--are key to victory in future elections.
