Last week, I voted in support of the House Republican budget that will drastically cut federal spending and scale back the size of the government, but also protect funding for our military and reform critical health and retirement programs for our seniors.
The most serious threat to our nation’s defense is our debt. The Republican budget is the only budget plan that has been offered that makes an earnest effort to cut year-to-year spending, safeguard our military defenses, and rescue Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid from bankruptcy. The House unanimously rejected the president’s budget 414-0.

The State Republican Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Texas met for a quarterly meeting on Saturday March 31st, 2012 in Austin, TX.

A Texas National Guard soldier has filed an official complaint and a freedom of information request regarding an incident where the Border Patrol wrongfully detained him, harassed him, made fun of the National Guard, and even took his cell phone and deleted the video of the incident before setting him free after determining that he had done nothing wrong. The Texas College Republicans held their 2012 Convention on March 24, 2012, in the legislative chamber of the Texas House of Representatives. Saturday, March 24, 2012, the Texas College Republicans hosted their annual convention at the State Capitol in the House Chamber. This convention was a big shift from what we had seen in previous years as we saw a huge “Latin flavor” to spice up the weekend. It was clearly evident on Friday night when we had the Hon. Dianne Costa, candidate for Congress for TX Congressional District 25 sponsoring our welcome reception. Mayor Costa spoke about how she is running just like any other candidate, putting her record and achievements over the racial labels used in society.

It is hard to get away from knowing that there was a ‘fatal incident’ in Florida. A neighborhood ‘volunteer watchman’ shot and killed a 17 year old ‘thug’ who happened to be cutting across a gated community to visit his girlfriend. Anytime a teenager is killed, it is heartbreaking. Anytime someone takes the ‘law’ into his own hands, it is sad.
