Runoff in CD14 - Felicia Harris Receives Strong Endorsements

An interesting thing happened in the world of Texas politics this week. It is pretty rare for a sitting Congressman to make an endorsement of a candidate for Congress in a contested race in the Republican Primary. In the race for CD14, candidate Felicia Harris has pulled off not one such endorsement, but two! I have been watching this race to replace the retiring Ron Paul in the US House of Representatives with some interest for several months. This announcement caught my attention and should cause you to take notice as well if you live in CD14. Read more about Runoff in CD14 - Felicia Harris Receives Strong Endorsements

Cornyn Op-Ed: Why Attorney General Eric Holder should resign

Tuesday morning I called on Attorney General Eric Holder to resign from office. Let me explain why.

The case against Eric Holder could begin and end with his handling of “Operation Fast and Furious,” the program in which our Justice Department deliberately allowed the sale of nearly 2,000 firearms to Mexican drug cartels, and then intentionally lost track of them.

Texas GOP Immigration Platform - Pandering or Progress

Issues:

The Republican Party of Texas made, what many are calling, an historic step forward in the debate to solve our nation's broken immigration system last Friday night when it adopted "The Texas Solution" as a new plank in the state party's platform.  However, the lengthy floor fight was not the end of the debate.  It is, rather, a new beginning where we have proven that reasonable people can come together, with differing opinions, and

Ron Paul Supporters at Texas GOP Convention Acted Respectfully, Were Intelligent and Not Crazy

Issues:

Sometimes a few crazy people can make an entire group look bad. Maybe that is what has happened with Ron Paul supporters. We see some crazy Ron Paul people on the news and we paint the entire group as being crazy. It is like these bad cops who think they are above the law and they break the law and do things like beating people up on video. That is why some people hate cops when, in fact, most cops are doing a great job and risking their lives for us. The problem is that the few bad cops you see on TV unfairly make all cops look bad. The “Legion,” Anarchists at the RPT Convention

Issues:

I’m working on a couple of blog posts concerning the controversies that occurred at the 2012 Republican Party of Texas held in Fort Worth last week, but thought I’d report on the oddest event of the week, which happened during the last few minutes of the Convention.

All week a small group of young men and women who claimed to represent college and high school students testified in several subcommittees (including the one I served on, the “Family, Life, and Health” subcommittee) and then at the full Rules and Platform Committees. National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is a political committee devoted to maintaining and increasing the 239-member Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

E-mails released Friday show that the Obama administration insisted that drug companies pay for an ad campaign to sell ObamaCare to the public through ad firms closely linked to the White House:

“PhRMA’s REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT PhRMA WAS NOT PREPARED TO RUN ADVERTISEMENTS BEFORE SEEING HOW THE HEALTHCARE LEGISLATION DEVELOPED”: (Energy and Commerce Staff, “Investigation Update: Closed-Door ObamaCare Negotiations,” House Energy and Commerce Committee, 6/8/2012)

Cornyn Presses Panetta on Relationship with Russian Arms Broker Supplying Assad Regime

John CornynMonday I sent a letter to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta again expressing concerns with the U.S. Government’s relationship with the Russian state-controlled arms export firm Rosoboronexport, who has for years been arming the Assad regime. I asked Secretary Panetta for a commitment that the Pentagon conduct a full and open competitive process for any future procurement of Mi-17 helicopters, which the U.S. has been buying through Rosoboronexport on a no-bid basis to equip the Afghan military. He asked for a full audit of the Pentagon’s contract with the Russian arms

Texas Will Lead And Unite The Nation In Immigration

Issues:

‘Taking Back our Country’ was the theme of our Texas State Convention and the delegates certainly indicated that that is exactly what we plan to do in November. The convention has come and gone and so much happened that my head is spinning and my feet are still hurting. There is so much to share concerning the convention so I will do it in several articles. We are now beginning to plan for the National Convention that is scheduled for August 27 – 31 in Tampa Bay, Florida. Read more about Texas Will Lead And Unite The Nation In Immigration

Comal County Republicans leading our State and Party, again!

We have two Delegates and two Alternate Delegates going to the National Republican Convention to represent Congressional District 21.

Out of three Delegates and three Alternate Delegates elected by CD 21, Larry Nuckols has Delegate Place 1, Lisa Allmon Roper has Delegate Place 3 and Sonja Harris will go as Alt. Delegate 3.

Powerful Preamble to the 2012 State Republican Party Platform

The Preamble of the new 2012 State Republican Party Platform, just passed Saturday in Ft. Worth, is below. Powerful. Please read slowly for full impact.
